The story behind the shirt was explained by both Matt Locker and Joe Schilp:

Three of these shirts were made after John Kiernan called us pompous.

The back of the shirts read "Black on 3." This was in reference to our (Schilp & Locker, et. al). regular refusal to monitor the content on cable Channel 3, which would go black when a program ended.
