The Canadian Love Request
At WPSC-FM we met lifelong friends. And in the Fall of 1997, I met Ian.
I was originally tasked with training him to be on air, but as with everything else that revolved around WPSC-FM, work usually turned into screwing around and breaking rules.
Ian had invented a character that he would voice. He called his character Pierre "The Candian Love Machine" Cartier. I couldn't resist, and one night in the Fall of 1997, right in the middle of an otherwise ordinary format shift, I recorded and aired The Canadian Love Machine making a song request.
I do seem to recall being summoned to "Irish" John's office the next day to discuss this flagrant violation of the format, but that was such a common occurrence I may be mixing up events.
Either way, this was typical of what was going on around WPSC-FM in the evenings in 1997 when "The Mike Bonte Program" was on the air.
