The 1997 fall semester was the first time William Paterson opened its doors to students as a University. To commemorate the occasion, the administration held "University Day." In lieu of the first day of classes, there were booths, prizes, and food showcasing the best of the University. WPSC-FM broadcasted live all day from their booth right in front of the Student Center.
